So big, so big.Piper continues to grow adding a healthy chubiness to her joints and cheeks. Not only is Piper growing physically, she is developing her sense of self.Vocalizations now contain multiple variations of messages, expressing “I’m uncomfortable” forty different ways depending on the degree or cause of the underlying irritant. But self development is certainly not all bad, her good continues to give great joy to et. al.Alert times share the same increase in variations of message and content.Piper looks farther and deeper; and appears to like sitting up at times (with et. al.’s assistance).
The neighbors invited Piper et. al. to an impromptu dinner, so of course Piper had to gussy up her hair. Her new coiffure remained stylish throughout the weekend despite a body wash.
So far, Monday has been peaceful, coffee and juice, and the Giro d’Italia. The sun is starting to shine this morning from a weekend of fog.Piper is stirring from her nap, and et. al. are looking forward to another day with Piper.
Whoa Nelly, what’s up girl? Piper is piping a lot more now that she has an additional layer of fatty muscle surrounding her lungs and noise making bits. Piper is also impressively piping out explosive bottom busters. Not only are et. al. having to change diapers every umpteen minutes it seems, but laundry has significantly increased despite the insanely tinyness of her clothes. Nevertheless she remains truly off the hook.
When Piper is not piping she spends her time soaking in the surroundings and sleeping.
Today is mother’s day and I have to say I have the greatest mother in the world. Though I may be new to this daughter thing, I am certain my mom is the best. For example, not only does she take care of my every need, she does so with such panache and style. For example, when I am hungry she feeds me. This past week we went to Pizza Delfina and Nopalito for lunch. I especially love the torta at Nopalito.
My mom also cleans me and clothes me. I already had one sponge cleaning and multiple diaper changes on account of my off the chart double whammy explosions! As for clothes, just look at all the fabulous outfits I wear. Sometimes I wear three or four outfits in a 24 hour period (see double whammy explosion above).
When I am cold, we snuggle to warm up. When I am tired, she lets me sleep. Sometimes we both get tired at the same time and my mom and I will sleep right next to each other. This I like.
Piper’s chances for the “maillot jeune” look less and less likely after today’s visit to the Kaiser.Although Piper may have looked to be a strong contender for the maillot jeune early on (her bonk despite a strong performance in the prologue caused considerable weight loss), her weight is now climbing like the great Charly Gaul. Why the change of pace? “She simply was not taking on enough fuel; now she is," et. al. replied to inquires from the press.
“Although she may no longer be a Tour contender, she still has a bright future ahead of her," said et. al. Indeed her Pop loves the cobbles, and Mom is always a contender for the Green Jersey. Of course everyone dreams of winning a race like Flanders, Paris Roubaix or a stage win on the Champs Elysees, but Piper’s build is more suited to the Ardennes Classics. She was born in late April you know. Piper is long and strong, which will help her in the final stretch of those hilly classics.
Amstel Gold anyone?
Speaking of beer, today is Cinco de Mayo and Piper is getting ready for a stroll to ColeValley with et. al.
Piper was born on April 30, 2009 at 8:40 AM, tipping the scales at a svelte 7lbs 11 ounces considering her 22 inch frame.
Piper, et. al. left the good doctors and nurses of Kaiser for the more familiar and comfortable surroundings of 421.Although free to go after 24 hours, et. al. made the right call spending the second night at the hospital as Piper, true to her name, piped.Perhaps et. al should have named her Sleeper?
Piper is home and although she is losing wait, et. al. have been eating well (i.e. sushi and beer, Pizza Delfina, meatloaf …)The docs recommended supplementing Piper’s meals with formula and after only a few feedings, et. al. remain optimistic with Piper’s new sumo training schedule (eat, sleep, eat, stretch, sleep, repeat).
A big thanks to everyone.Piper et. al. certainly can feel your love and support (yes, we can feel it.)Enjoy the pictures and tales to come …
